The Great Quake Henry Fountain talked about his book The Great Quake: How the Biggest Earthquake in North America Changed Our Understanding of the Planet, in which he recounts the largest earthquake recorded in North America that happened in on March 27, 1964, in Alaska. The quake, which measured 9.2 on the Richter scale, killed over 130 people and affected the southern half of the state. close
