Katherine Zimmerman talked about U.S. efforts to combat terrorist organizations in the Middle East. She said the U.S. should focus less on military victories against established groups such as al-Qaida and ISIS and more on countering and supplanting the religious-political ideologies of emerging terror groups. She argued that the U.S. would have more lasting success if it were to shift its focus toward providing benefits and protection to the people of Middle Eastern countries in which terrorist organizations are entrenched rather than apply all of its resources and efforts into military actions. close
