The Council on the Americas hosted two Venezuelan democracy activists -- one, a human rights lawyer, and one a leader of an opposition party -- to discuss the eroding political situation in the South American nation, which was facing protests, inflation, and food shortages in addition to violent government crackdowns against its political opposition.
