Bing Crosby and American Culture
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2017 LCV Cities Tour” in Spokane, Washington, from July 1-7 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Bill Stimson shared the story of twentieth century entertainer Bing Crosby. Mr. Stimson talked about Mr. Crosby’s legacy and how he helped transform and define cultural life in the U.S. and around the world. He also gave a tour of Mr. Crosby’s childhood home and showed items from a special collection that includes Bing Crosby’s many awards and memorabilia.
