President Trump answered questions from reporters on the violence that occurred at a rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, the previous weekend. When asked why he waited two days to specifically condemn white supremacist groups and Nazis, he responded “....before I make a statement, I like to know the facts.” He also criticized what he described as “alt-left” groups and said there was “blame on both sides” and said not all of the people at the rally were neo-Nazis or white nationalists.
At the start of the press conference, the president announced he signed an executive order that aims to streamline the federal permitting process for infrastructure projects. close
