The U.N. Security Council met to issue an official condemnation of North Korea’s launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile that crossed over Japanese territory. The council’s president delivered the group’s official message, warning the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to cease its missile launches. Afterward, the U.S., Chinese, and Russian ambassadors to the U.N. criticized the regime as well. Russia’s ambassador called on the U.S. to cease its build up of a missile defense system protecting South Korea, which it said was a provocation to North Korea. close
