The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations held an oversight hearing on the Environmental Protection Agency. Alan Larsen, counsel to the EPA’s inspector general, and Alfredo Gómez, natural resources and environment director at the Government Accountability Office, talked about recommendations their offices made to the EPA to improve its efficiencies and operations. They both said that the EPA is generally slow in adopting recommendations from the inspector general and Government Accountability Office, and that environmental risks would be better managed if the agency were more responsive. close
