Senate Democratic leaders spoke to reporters following their weekly caucus lunch. Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) addressed the deal made between President Trump and congressional Democrats to raise the debt limit and fund the government for three months. The agreement would attach both measures to a House funding bill for Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts. Other topics included health care, tax reform, and the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act to protect young immigrants who are vulnerable to deportation due to the Trump administration’s to rescind the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. close
