James Reston, Jr. and Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund founder Jan Scruggs talked about the memorial’s creation. Mr. Reston is the author of A Rift in the Earth: Art, Memory, and the Fight for a Vietnam War Memorial. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, designed by architect and Yale University student Maya Lin, was dedicated on Washington, D.C.'s National Mall in 1982. close
