French President Emmanuel Macron delivered remarks during the general debate of the opening of the 72nd United Nations General Assembly. He said it was France’s duty to speak up for the voiceless and called on the U.N. member to step up actions in response to the Rohingya refugee crisis along Myanmar’s eastern border with Bangladesh. President Macron also called on North Korea to denuclearize and said that despite the U.S.'s announced exit from the Paris Agreement on climate change, France would continue to support global efforts to reduce carbon emissions. close
