The Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on a Republican proposal to replace the Affordable Care Act. Two Republicans, Senators Lindsey Graham (SC) and Bill Cassidy (LA), spearheaded the bill, which was criticized by Democrats and many policy advocates as cutting too deeply the Medicaid program for low-income families. The hearing’s start was delayed for about 20 minutes while the Capitol Police removed protestors who were opposed to the legislation. close
