The commission heard testimony from its own staff members during their final deliberations on the list of military bases slated for closure by the Department of Defense. During the proceedings, the commission voted to close a small intelligence facility in Virginia and voted to keep open facilities in Alabama and Georgia. Facilities kept open included Fort McClellan, the only chemical warfare training facility in the nation. The commission is expected to finish its deliberations in five days of hearings. close
