The Senate Judiciary Committee held an oversight hearing on President Trump’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Witnesses included Homeland Security officials, immigration experts, and an undocumented medical student who shared her personal such issues as changes to immigration policy, border security, a legal pathway for undocumented immigrants, and the impact on families of rescinding DACA. Witnesses also referenced the upcoming October 5, 2017, deadline for DACA recipients to file their renewal requests and applications for employment authorization. close
