In a portion of the six hour debate in the House of Commons, members debated political funding reforms. Britain’s campaign funding process, which is funded entirely by private contributions without requirements concerning documentation, came under scrutiny earlier in the year after a convicted foreign businessman was determined to be a major contributor to the ruling Conservative party. Labour members questioned the awarding of honors and knighthoods to executives of corporations which are major contributors to the ruling Conservative party. close
