Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and other House Republican leaders reacted to the mass shooting in Las Vegas during a news conference following a caucus meeting at the Capitol. “We cannot let the actions of a single person define us as a country,” said the speaker. This was Majority Whip Steve Scalise’s (R-LA) first briefing since being shot during a congressional baseball practice in June 2017. Representative Mark Amodei, who represents Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District, also spoke at the briefing. close
