White House Daily Briefing Sarah Sanders said President Trump briefed reporters and responded to questions on a range of issues. She said President Trump was open to a conversation on banning rapid fire tools that allow semi-automatic rifles to function as fully-automatic weapons. She repeated the statement several times, including to a question about the National Rifle Association issuing a statement saying it supports additional regulations on the rapid fire tools. She also responded to questions on the Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, saying the American people were frustrated the panel continued to focus on the question of collusion between the Trump administration and Russia, despite “zero” evidence. She also spoke about the federal response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. close
