In 1947, ten prominent members of the Hollywood film industry refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee on their suspected ties to communism. They were held in contempt of Congress, served prison terms, and were blacklisted by Hollywood. This event hosted by the Writers Guild Foundation and Hollywood Progressive featured blacklist survivors, family members, and artists reading testimonies and statements from those subpoenaed during the congressional hearings. close
