The Hudson Institute hosted a conference with lawmakers and former intelligence officials on countering violent extremism. This portion of the event included a discussion with former CIA Director and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. He urged the Trump administration to “lower the volume of rhetoric” on North Korea and said U.S. policy should focus on better containment and deterrence. In addition, Mr. Panetta criticized the Trump administration’s policy toward Russia and the Iran nuclear agreement. close
