Officials from Facebook, Twitter and Google testified at a House Intelligence Committee hearing on Russia and social media influence in the 2016 election. The witnesses talked about actions their companies were taking to protect users from misleading and malicious content. Committee members questioned witnesses about online political advertising transparency, social media content vetting, and efforts to identify and remove Russian-based fake accounts. During the proceeding the committee released and displayed a sample of Russian-bought political ads created during the campaign. close
