The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on antisemitism and free speech rights on college campuses. Witnesses included former Bush administration Solicitor General Paul Clement, Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, and Jewish studies professors and advocacy group leaders. The witnesses gave recommendations to help protect Jewish students from anti-Semitic harassment. In addition they debated the potential effects of proposed antisemitism legislation on free speech rights, which the Senate passed, the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act, by unanimous consent in December 2016. close
