Political Situation in Argentina The Hudson Institute hosted a discussion on the current political situation in Argentina with Hector Schamis, a professor at Georgetown University’s Center for Latin American Studies. Mr. Schamis talked about the history of Argentina’s political movements and traditional two-party system, now being challenged by the creation of a third party in the wake of the most recent midterm elections. He suggested that this change signaled a new direction in Argentine politics, adding that the urban middle-class wanted a more democratic government with institutional qualities. Following his remarks, he took questions from the audience. close
