Jason Roe explained the goal of Kansas City Public Library’s “Kansas City During the Pendergast Era” digital collection and how its used to explore the life and influence of Tom Pendergast. Tom Pendergast was a political boss who controlled Kansas City and Jackson County, Missouri, during the mid 1920s to the late 1930s. Mr. Pendergast’s accomplishments included fueling the political life of former president Harry Truman.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2017 LCV Cities Tour” in Kansas City, Missouri, from October 7-13, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Spectrum cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
