Speaking on the chamber floor, Minority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said the Senate should be working on a lot of issues, such as reauthorizing the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), raising the debt ceiling, and federal spending, instead of the Republican the tax bill. He also talked about President Trump’s appointment of Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney as acting director to replace Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray, who resigned. Senator Schumer said he only reason for Mr. Mulvaney to be at the agency was to rock it from the inside. Afterward Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) responded to the minority leader. close
