President Trump spoke to reporters about the latest missile launch by North Korea and the ongoing efforts in Congress to pass Republican tax reform plan and budget legislation. He was joined by Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), both of whom made brief remarks as well. The president, Speaker Ryan, and Majority Leader McConnell all expressed disappointment that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) earlier in the day declined the invitation to attend the meeting. Defense Secretary Mattis was also in the room and provided a few additional details on the North Korean missile launch, saying, “it went higher, frankly, than any previous shot they’ve taken.” close
