Advocacy group Voices for Internet Freedom held a rally at Federal Communications Commission headquarters to express opposition to proposed changes to federal net neutrality regulations that were being voted on by FCC commissioners later that day. The commission was voting on revoking Obama administration net neutrality rules that regulated the internet like a public utility and prohibited internet service providers from blocking or charging websites for higher quality delivery to consumers. Among the speakers at the rally were Representatives Keith Ellison (D-MN) and Pramila Jayapal (D-CA), both of whom opposed the FCC’s proposed changes. Representative Jose Serrano (D-NY) also spoke at the rally and was knocked off stage by a large alarm clock prop moved by a strong wind. close
