Homeland Security Oversight Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen testified at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on oversight of the Homeland Security Department. She was questioned about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and President Trump’s alleged vulgar comments at a recent Oval Office meeting with lawmakers. Secretary Nielsen said she “did not hear” the president say a vulgar word to describe African countries, El Salvador, and Haiti. In addition, she said the conversation was impassioned and the president was using “tough language” in the room. Other topics addressed included immigration enforcement, border wall funding, and the administration’s decision to revoke Temporary Protected Status, specifically for nationals of El Salvador. close
