Representatives Courtney and Larson Town Hall Meeting on Tax Reform
Democratic Representatives John Larson and Joe Courtney, who represent, respectively Connecticut’s 1st and 2nd Congressional Districts, held a town hall meeting at Manchester Community College. The two primarily spoke about and fielded questions from constituents on the Republican tax plan that was signed into law by President Trump at the end of 2017. Representatives Larson and Courtney said they opposed the closed-door process that the legislation went through, contrasting it to the 1986 tax cuts, which received bipartisan support. They also took issue with the law’s caps on the state and local tax (SALT) deduction, which, they say, disproportionately affects higher-taxed states such as Connecticut. close
