Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar addressed European lawmakers in Strasbourg, France, on the future of the European Union. The prime minister, or “taoiseach,” spoke about the impact of the U.K.'s exit from the European Union, also known as “Brexit,” and the border concerns between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. He was the first speaker in a series of debates in the European Parliament on the future of the Union. The last minute of Mr. Varadkar’s speech was spoken in Ireland’s traditional Gaelic language. close
