The Senate met to debate the government shutdown and a possible temporary funding measure. At approximately 9:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell proposed moving the scheduled vote to end the government shutdown from 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Minority Leader Schumer (D-NY) objected to rescheduling the vote, and Leader McConnell then announced the vote would take place on the following day at noon. Senator Flake (R-AZ) rose to speak about giving his support to the vote and the need to debate immigration. close
