Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Susan Collins (R-ME) spoke to reporters after the Senate voted to pass a three-week continuing resolution and fund the government through February 8. The two were part of a 25-senator, bipartisan group who met several times over the course of the three-day federal government shutdown to work toward a resolution in order to reopen the government. They talked about what would happen over the next three weeks, and expressed optimism that more compromises would be made in order to pass a long term budget resolution. close
