House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) spoke to reporters upon his return to the Capitol after spending 12 days in the hospital for a follow-up surgery. Representative Scalise was shot while attending a congressional baseball practice in June 2017. He said he was glad to be back to the job he loves, and that he was surprised by what he said were Democratic tactics to shut down the government for three days. He also spoke about the continuing resolution to fund the government until February 8, 2018, and what he thought should be the Republican Party’s priorities for a more long-term funding plan. close
