Members of labor and housing industry organizations spoke in a news conference to express their dissatisfaction with the Clinton administration’s policies concerning the forests of the Pacific Northwest introduced by the president in a news conference earlier in the day. The executives and officials criticized the plan, saying it was unfair to industries that utilize timber, would force tens of thousands of timber industry employees out of work, and would end up costing the average American more in lumber costs and reduced tax revenues in the Pacific Northwest. close
