Remedy for Riot is a CBS News special report from March 3, 1968, detailing the findings of the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders or Kerner Commission. The commission was formed by President Lyndon Johnson in the wake of widespread rioting, unrest, and racial tension in several cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Newark, and Detroit and the report was released on February 29, 1968. Using film of the riots, interviews with commission members, civic leaders, and citizens, CBS examines the causes of unrest and the Kerner Report’s proposals for preventing similar unrest in the future. close
