Members of a House Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee met to discuss the recent train accidents and whether transportation executives will be able to meet the December 31, 2018, deadline to implement a train safety feature known as PTC or Positive Train Control. PTC is designed to automatically stop a train to prevent accidents. Representatives from the Federal Railroad Administration, Amtrak, and the National Transportation and Safety Board were among the witnesses for this two-hour hearing and discussed some of the challenges their organizations are having in implementing PTC. close
