President Trump and a bipartisan group of lawmakers talked about ways to prevent gun violence in communities and schools. In his comments he advocated for legislation that would expand background checks to weapons bought on the internet and at gun shows, prevent mentally ill people from purchasing guns, secure schools, and restrict gun sales for some young adults. He urged Congress to come up with one comprehensive gun bill and said he would sign an executive order to ban “bump stocks” that essentially turn semi-automatic firearms into automatic weapons. close
