Louisiana State of the State Address

Governor John Bel Edwards (D-LA) delivered the State of the State address at the opening of the Louisiana Legislature’s 2018 regular session. He expressed his disappointment with legislators in failing to pass a tax reform bill during the special session and urged members to address the state’s $994 million budget shortfall. In addition, Governor Edwards outlined his legislative priorities which included infrastructure investment, establishing a minimum wage, preventing sexual harassment, equal pay for women and the criminal justice system.
