Steel and Aluminum Tariffs and Jobs
Trade analysts took part in a Heritage Foundation forum on President Trump’s recently-announced steel and aluminum tariffs, which were scheduled to take effect later that month. The panelists focused on the impact of the tariffs on jobs. They also discussed the results of a study and estimates by global economic consulting firm the Trade Partnership study, which that although the tariffs would help boost U.S. steel and aluminum industries, they would result in a net loss of around 146,000 jobs. close
