Members of the White House cabinet spoke in a news conference in the White House on their departments' contributions to aid for the communities affected by military bases slated for closing by the Department of Defense. The cabinet members spoke after the president announced his decision to send the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission’s recommendations on to Congress for approval. The commission submitted its recommendations earlier in the week after months of hearings on the Department of Defense base closing recommendations. close
