Election system vulnerabilities were the focus of a discussion at a conference on hacking and voting technology. The registrars of voters for Los Angeles and Orange Counties in California shared their views on some of the changes needed to help ensure the security of votes. They included the auditing of voter registration databases, strengthening the voter verification process and the widespread use of paper ballots. The registrars were joined by the founder of Cleveland State University’s Center for Election Integrity. The conference was held at the University of California in Irvine and hosted by its Cybersecurity Policy and Research Institute. close
