The Senate Intelligence Committee held a confirmation hearing for Lieutenant General Paul Nakasone, the nominee to be the next director of the National Security Agency (NSA) and commander of U.S. Cyber Command. Committee members asked the nominee about a range of cyber issues, including defending the nation from cyberattacks, encryption technologies, and recruiting and retaining top-level talent at the NSA. Lieutenant General Nakasone was nominated by President Trump in February 2018 to replace Admiral Michael Rogers, who assumed the position in April 2014. close
