Ari Pitrinos and Kei Kuozumi, authors of a new report on the environmental and societal impacts of the Trump administration’s proposed cuts to climate and environmental research programs, gave a briefing on the findings. The report, sponsored by Novim in partnership with the Environmental and Energy Study Institute, outlined how the president’s proposed budget cuts could lead to the dismantling of programs that protect health and safety; break continuity in longstanding research infrastructure needed for modeling and detecting trends; hurt agency morale and recruitment; and diminish the ability to meet legal and global commitments. They also cautioned that government funding is essential to higher education and the creation of private sector jobs. close
