Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) spoke on the chamber floor about H.R.1865, the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act. The bill would make websites accountable for facilitating the sale of children online by allowing prosecutors to use both state sex trafficking and prostitution laws to prosecute websites that sell victims of trafficking. He began his speech with comments on his bill to update the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), also known as the “Fix NICS.” He also talked about war powers authority. close
