Ben Carson, the secretary of Housing and Urban Development, testified before the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee. He took questions on the president’s 2019 budget request and his priorities for the department. The budget proposal totaled $41.24 billion for fiscal year 2019--a decrease of more than $6 billion from the department’s enacted budget in 2017.
