C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2018 LCV Cities Tour” in Norman, Oklahoma, from March 3-7, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Cox Communications local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Norman, Oklahoma, is home to the National Weather Center, located on the campus of the University of Oklahoma, it is a consolidation of federal, state, and academic organizations that work to better understand the Earth’s atmosphere. Pat Hyland, coordinator of External Outreach, talked about the work being done at the center to study severe weather in the United States. Research Fellow Donald Burgess also shared the history of radar technology and how it’s being used in weather research.
