One day before the student-led “March for Our Lives” rally in Washington, D.C, student journalists from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, talked about their experiences witnessing the mass shooting that killed 17 of their classmates and school staff, as well as covering the tragedy for their school newspaper. Many expressed the dilemma of emotionally dealing with the tragedy and making the decision to interview fellow students and photograph the aftermath the following day.

The “March for Our Lives” rallies in Washington D.C., and around the country were organized in response to the February 14, 2018, school shooting in Parkland, Florida, as well as other school shootings since the 1999 Columbine High School shooting in Colorado. close
