U.S. Representative Jan Meyers(R-KS), member of the House Small Business Committee, spoke to an audience at the conservative think-tank The Heritage Foundation on welfare reform. In her remarks, Rep. Meyers discussed a bill she intended to introduce to Congress that would freeze AFDC spending at the 1993 level and send it back to the states in block grants, would allow AFDC benefits to Americans 18 years and older, and would only grant AFDC benefits to families who have established paternity rights. Following her prepared remarks, she responded to questions from members of the audience. close
