Arizona State University professor Kyle Longley taught a class on President Lyndon Johnson and the Vietnam War in 1968. He discussed LBJ’s reaction to the Tet Offensive in January, and talked about the reasons behind the president’s decision in March not to seek re-election. Professor Longley also described LBJ’s attempts to forge a peace agreement with the North Vietnamese, and the role the war played in the November presidential election. close
