The Brookiings Institution hosted a discussion on the opportunities of the U.S. sharing technology with other countries and the national security risks that can accompany such transfers between nations. Two panels explored questions such as whether limits should be imposed on companies allowed to sell overseas, balancing security concerns with free trade and investment, and how the U.S. should approach the issue with China. The event began with remarks by Brookings President and retired U.S. Marine Corps General John Allen, who commanded NATO forces in Afghanistan. close
