In 1988, the Supreme Court announced its decision in Hustler Magazine v. Falwell. The court ruled unanimously for Hustler, which had published a parody of religious leader Jerry Falwell, who had sued to recover damages for libel, invasion of privacy, and emotional distress. This discussion of the landmark first amendment case included editorial cartoonists and a legal expert. It was part of a symposium on satire held at the University of Minnesota. close
