Defense Undersecretary Michael Griffin talked about technology and national security. Undersecretary Griffin, who also served as NASA administrator during the George W. Bush administration, discussed how the Defense Department was working to advance its technological capabilities to increase its military edge against rising powers such as Russia and China. He advocated for an increase in research and development and argued that the funding would outweigh the cost of major military conflicts. He attributed the relative global peace and stability since World War II to the U.S.'s overwhelming military advantage against other world powers. Rebeccah Heinrichs moderated the discussion. close
